Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start a project with Atelier Damask?
Start with our 15-minute Discovery Call. We’ll briefly review your project, determine where you are in the development process, and recommend the appropriate next step.
For founders who require more guidance before beginning development, we also offer a Brand Launch Roadmap, a structured consultation covering development requirements, approximate budget, timeline and production planning.
Do I need to have patterns or a tech pack before contacting you?
No.
Atelier Damask can work with clients at different stages of development.
Depending on your project, our Studio can assist with:
-
Technical drawings
-
Tech packs
-
Pattern development
-
Prototype development
-
Fit corrections
-
Grading
-
Production markers
-
If you already have professionally prepared files, we can also review them and determine what is required to move into sampling or production.
What is your minimum production order?
Our standard production minimum is:
60 units per style, per colour, per fabric.
For example, if one style is produced in two colours, each colour normally requires its own minimum quantity.
Smaller quantities may occasionally be considered as mini-production and are quoted separately.
Do you offer product-development packages?
Yes.
Our Development Programs currently range from a single style to complete five-style capsule collections.
Current programs include:
1 Style — $3,000
2 Styles — $5,500
3 Styles — $8,000
4 Styles — $9,750
5 Styles — $11,500
5 Styles + Launch Preparation — $15,000
Programs include technical documentation, tech packs, pattern development, prototypes and production preparation according to the selected program.
Can I pay for a development program in installments?
Yes.
Our larger Development Programs can be divided into milestone payments throughout the development process.
Each stage begins once the corresponding payment has been received.
Bulk production is quoted and invoiced separately.
Do the development programs include fabric and trims?
Fabric and trim sourcing for prototypes and duplicate samples is included as part of the development process.
Standard development materials may also be included where reasonably available.
Specialty, luxury, imported or custom-developed materials may require an additional charge.
Examples may include:
-
Specialty fabrics
-
Custom hardware
-
Custom-dyed materials
-
Custom prints
-
High-cost trims
-
Materials requiring supplier minimum orders
Any additional costs will be communicated and approved before purchasing.
Final bulk-production materials are quoted separately.
Do you make prototypes?
Yes.
Prototype development is a core part of our Studio process.
Depending on the project, the prototype stage can include:
-
Pattern development
-
Cutting
-
Sewing
-
Fit review
-
Construction review
-
Pattern corrections
-
Preparation for grading and production
What is the production credit?
For every developed style that proceeds to qualifying production with Atelier Damask, the client receives a:
$200 production credit per style.
The credit is deducted from the production invoice.
The qualifying minimum is 60 units per style, colour, and fabric.
How many sizes can you develop?
Our development programs generally include grading for up to five sizes per style.
Additional sizes can be quoted separately where required.
Extremely large or specialized sizing may also require additional development depending on the garment.
How long does product development take?
Development timelines depend on the number of styles, complexity and availability of materials.
Typical stages may include:
-
Pattern development: approximately 4 weeks
-
Initial prototype: approximately 4 weeks
-
Grading: approximately 1- 2 weeks
-
Marker preparation: approximately 1- 2 weeks
Projects involving several styles, fittings, sourcing or major corrections may require additional time.
How long does production take?
Typical bulk-production lead time is approximately:
5–6 weeks
after all development, materials, approvals and production requirements are complete.
Cutting and other outsourced operations may add additional time depending on the project.
Do you provide fabrics and trims for production?
We can assist with sourcing and supplier coordination, but bulk fabrics and trims are generally charged separately from development-program pricing.
Atelier Damask does not currently offer fabric dyeing or washing services; development is based on available materials or materials supplied/sourced for the project.
Can I bring my own fabric, trims or patterns?
Yes.
We can work with client-supplied:
-
Fabrics
-
Trims
-
Patterns
-
Tech packs
-
Hardware
-
Labels
Our team will review them before development or production to determine whether they are suitable for the intended garment.
Do you only work with new brands?

We work with both:
-
New fashion founders
-
Established designers

Existing brands

Do you handle everything from concept to production?
That is exactly what the new Atelier Damask model is designed to do.
A client can begin with an idea and move through:
Concept → Technical Development → Tech Pack → Pattern → Prototype → Fit → Grading → Marker → Production
Additional media, marketing and market-access services can then support the launch and growth of the brand.
